Antique Arched Brass-Clad Door · Rajasthan, India
This striking arched double door was sourced in Rajasthan and showcases a beautiful combination of carved teak framing and hand-applied brass cladding. The warm, golden brass panels are secured with rows of domed iron studs—each one shaped by hand—giving the door both strength and an unmistakably traditional Indian character.
The arched form is a classic element of Rajasthani architecture, often seen in havelis and courtyard homes. Its original wooden frame has been stripped back to reveal the natural teak grain, while the brass has developed a soft, time-worn patina that reflects decades of use. Subtle irregularities in the metal surface and the forged hardware—ring pulls, rivets, and latch plate—attest to its handmade origins.
Now cleaned and restored without losing the age and texture that make it special, this door works beautifully as an architectural installation, a dramatic wall panel, or a sculptural decorative piece.
