Ox Cart Table — Made From a Teak Bull Cart Wheel
This round dining table is built from the reclaimed teak wheel of a traditional Indian bull cart, commonly used across rural regions of India. These carts were part of the working equipment of the Gadia Lohar community—skilled blacksmiths who were historically nomadic and known for repairing tools, metal fittings, and agricultural equipment as they traveled from village to village.
The tabletop retains the wheel’s original carved surface and wear, showing the distinctive circular pattern created through years of use. The dense, naturally durable teak has been cleaned and finished to highlight its grain while preserving the marks and texture that identify it as a functional, working object.
A sturdy hand-forged iron base supports the top, complementing the cart’s original materials and giving the piece the strength and stability needed for everyday use.
This table brings together practical history and durable craftsmanship—an authentic piece made from teak that once served a real purpose in rural India.
